Myanmar lodges 144 new Covid-19 cases, one more death

Myanmar reported 144 new Covid-19 cases on January 4 bringing the total number of patients to 531,299, the Ministry of Health reported.

A total of 10,957 samples were tested between 8 pm of January 3 and 8 pm of January 4 and 144 people tested positive for Covid-19. One patient died from the virus during the 24-hour period bringing the total number of deaths to 19,278, according to the ministry.

A total of 6,076,447 samples had been tested till January 4 since the start of the outbreak in the country. Moreover, 256 patients were discharged from hospitals bringing the total number of those discharged to 509,182.

The samples were tested in labs under the Health Ministry, using GeneXpert machines in hospitals in Nay Pyi Taw Council, all regions and states, at No.1 1,000-Bed Military Hospital in Yangon, at No.2 1,000-Bed Military Hospital in Nay Pyi Taw, at private hospitals and labs and using COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Diagnostic Test in hospitals and public health departments in Nay Pyi Taw Council and all regions and states.
