Myanmar imports more than 5800 vehicles in nearly 6 months

More than 5,800 vehicles were imported in nearly 6 months of 2023-2024 FY including more than 1,200 vehicles for household use and more than 40 buses, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation.

From April 1 to September 29, 2023-2024 FY , 1,262 vehicles worth US$ 28.55 million, 44 buses worth US$ 0.83 million, 793 trucks worth US$ 12.08 million, 3,756 machins worth US$ 114.88 million, and car spare parts worth of US$ 35.55 million were imported totaling US$ 191.89 million.

From April 1 to September 29, 2022-2023 FY,  118 vehicles worth US$ 2.93 million, 113 buses worth US$ 1.84 million, 497 trucks worth US$ 6.19 million, 995 machineries worth US$ 55.71 million, car spare parts worth US$ 32.94 million were imported totaling US$ 99.91 million.

The Ministry of Commerce releases an auto import policy every year. Vehicles import policy for 2023 hasn’t changed and it remained the same, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

The model year allowed to be imported for household use vehicles are 2022 to 2023, vehicles used in worksites and passenger buses are 2019 to 2023 and from 2014 to 2023 models for fire trucks and ambulances.  Only vehicles with left-handed drive such as ambulances, trucks, passenger buses, fire engines and household vehicles can be imported under the 2023 vehicle import policy, according to the statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce.
