Myanmar exports 26,515 tonnes of rice within a week from Nov 25 to Dec 1

A total of 26,515 tonnes of rice were exported in one week from November 25 to December 1, 2023, earning US$15.001 million, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, citing the Ministry of Commerce.

It is reported that 24,090 tonnes were exported to 15 countries by sea trade, and 2,425 tonnes were exported from the border trade routes such as Lweje, Kanpiketie, and Kengtong border trade stations.

Myanmar earned US$9.696 million from 22,049 tonnes of broken rice exports.

In the eight months of the 2023-2024 FY, the export of rice and broken rice earned more than US$361 million, with the highest monthly export amounting to US$90 million in November, according to statistics released by the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF).

Myanmar earned US$$36 million in April, US$48 million in May, US$28 million in June, US$26 million dollars in July, US$28 million in August, US$42 million in September, US$63 million in October and US$90 million in November in 2023-2024 FY from the exports of rice and broken rice.

The monthly export of rice and broken rice was as per following: 87,648 tonnes in April, 110,706 tonnes in May, 62,725 tonnes in June, 58,334 tonnes in July, 59,971 tonnes in August, 84,773 tonnes in September, 119,526 tonnes in October and 175,990 tonnes in November in 2023-2024 FY.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, more than 94,300 tonnes of rice were exported abroad in October 2023, with more than 59,000 tonnes of rice to Indonesia.

More than 91,760 tonnes of rice were exported from the normal trade route from October 1 to 31 and earned US$52.992 million. Myanmar exported more than 4200 tonnes of rice to Asian countries, more than 15,000 tonnes of rice to EU member countries and 2,540 tonnes of rice to African countries.
