Myanmar enhances regional ties: General Maung Maung Aye represents nation at 25th ASEAN Army Chiefs Meeting

The Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air), General Maung Maung Aye, attended the 25th ASEAN Chiefs of Army Multilateral Meeting (25th ACAMM) and held separate discussions with representatives from Cambodia, the Philippines, Thailand, Laos, and Brunei.

The delegation, led by General Maung Maung Aye, attended the 25th ASEAN Chiefs of Army Multilateral Meeting, held at the Hilton Clark Sun Valley Resort in Mabalacat, Philippines, on November 21. This meeting was attended on behalf of Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win.

At the meeting, the opening remarks were delivered by the Philippine Army Chief, Lieutenant General Roy M. Galido. Delegates, including ASEAN Army Chiefs and delegation leaders, discussed the theme “Strengthening Partnership and Camaraderie Towards Regional Stability”. The meeting concluded in the afternoon.

After the meeting, General Maung Maung Aye participated in a joint press conference with other ASEAN Army Chiefs. Later, the delegation led by General Maung Maung Aye held separate discussions with General Mao Sophan, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Cambodian Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Cambodian Army, General Wasu Chiemsuk, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, Lieutenant General Roy M. Galido, Commander of the Philippine Army, Major General Phanseng Bounphan, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Lao People’s Armed Forces, and Brigadier General Haji Mohammad Shanonnizam bin Sulaiman, Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Forces.

These discussions focused on strengthening mutual friendship and collaboration between their respective armed forces.

In the evening, General Maung Maung Aye and his wife attended a formal dinner hosted by Lieutenant General Roy M. Galido and his wife, along with other ASEAN Army Chiefs, their spouses, and delegation members.
