The Myanmar Economic Bank branch in Nawnghkio Township, Shan State (North), reopened on August 15 after being closed for more than a year.

A reopening ceremony was held in the morning, attended by military officials, Myanmar Economic Bank State Manager U Aung Myo Tun, the Kyaukme District Administrator, and other district and township-level department officials. During the event, U Aung Myo Tun outlined the steps taken to restore banking operations. Officials also unveiled the office signboard with fragrant water and inspected the facility.

The branch had suspended operations on June 26, 2024, and resumed services following the military’s regaining of control over Nawnghkio. Banking services have now fully resumed, enabling the public in Nawnghkio Township to access financial transactions more conveniently.
