More than 33,033 tons of bean and pulses were exported via sea and border trade routes till July 7 in 2023-2024 FY, earning US$26.975 million, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

In the 2023-2024 FY, from April 1 to July 7, Myanmar earned US$19.124 million from 23,439.14 tons of bean and pulses exports via maritime trade, and US$7.851 million from 9,594.750 tons of bean and pulses exports through border trade, totaling 33,033.944 tons of bean and pulses worth US$26.975 million.

From October to the end of September of the 2020-2021 FY, more than US$1,570 million was earned from the export of bean and pulses by sea and border trade routes, which is more than US$374 million more than the previous fiscal year.

From October to the end of September of the 2020-2021 FY, Myanmar earned US$966.407 million from the export of bean and pulses by sea and US$604.300 million from the export of bean and pulses through border trade, earning a total of US$1,570.707 million.

In the 2019-2020 FY, nearly US$1.2 billion was earned from exporting more than 1.6 million tons of bean and pulses to foreign countries, and although the export decreased by more than 23,000 tons from the previous year, the income was almost US$190 million more.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Finance, nearly US$300 million was earned from the export of bean and pulses through border trade routes in a year, with the export of green beans accounting for more than US$188 million.

In the 2019-2020 FY, Myanmar earned US$0.58 million from the export of mung beans, US$188.67 million dollars from the export of green beans, US$0.29 million dollars from the export of pigeon peas, US$0.37 million dollars from the export of chickpeas, US$9.08 million from the export of cow peas, US$20.98 million from the export of butter beans, US$14.19 million dollars from the export of kidney beans and more than US$64 million from the export of other beans through border trade.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Finance, during the year, more than US$770 million were earned from the export of bean and pulses through maritime trade. Myanmar earned more than US$436 million from the export of mung beans, and more than US$224 million from the export of green beans.

Among Myanmar's domestically produced pulses, the three types of beans such as mung beans, green beans and chickpeas are the most exported.

Of these, mung beans and chickpeas are mainly exported to India, while green beans are mainly exported to China and some European countries. According to the Ministry of Commerce, Myanmar has more than 11 million acres of bean and pulses planted annually, with more than 35 percent of mung beans and pigeon peas cultivation.
