Myanmar is planning to vaccinate all citizens aged over 18 who make up of over 67 percent of the population against Covid-19 in 2021 and 2022 in a bid to prevent infection rate, according to the fourth coordination meeting of the COVAX National Coordinating Committee – CNCC held in Nay Pyi Taw on January 10.
Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe said it is a wide and subtle project for the logistics of Covid-19 vaccines and vaccinations across the country.
He expressed his delight at reaching a final stage of the project thanks to the ministry officials, national level technical and advisory committees for vaccinations, adding that project approval will be sought from the National Level Central Committee for Covid-19 Prevention, control and Treatment.
The project has been drawn under the guidelines of the central committee, technical committees, the WHO and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance after the consideration of priority groups and systematic distribution of vaccines, he said.
He said the experiences of the Ministry of Health and Sports and its health workers and experts in immunization programmes would make the coming national immunization programme against COVID-19 a success.
The minister said all citizens aged 18 and above who make up of 67.9 percent of the population will receive Covid jabs in 2021 and 2022 in a bid to contain the infection rate.
