Myanmar, China discuss law enforcement and security cooperation

The seventh Myanmar-China ministerial meeting on law enforcement and security cooperation took place between Myanmar’s Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China at Horizon Lake View Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on the evening of October 30.

A total of 42 people attended the meeting with the Myanmar delegation led by State Administration Council member Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and the Chinese delegation led by Minister for Public Security Mr Wang Xiaohong.

At the meeting, both sides discussed peace and tranquility in border areas of the two countries, the promotion of law enforcement and security cooperation, attendance to the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (Lianyungang) and China-ASEAN police academies forum, implementation of the five-year plan of Action on the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (2023-2027), launching of operations against human trafficking, online fraud, cybercrime, money laundering, cross-border gambling, drug cases, cooperation in Lancang-Mekong security and law enforcement activities.

Moreover, they discussed bilateral relations in arresting Chinese fugitives, communication among law enforcement organizations, joint research on crimes in border areas and other matters related to law enforcement, information, training, MoU on the tranquility of border areas, law enforcement and security cooperation and real-time information exchange between the two ministries.

After the ministerial meeting, the meeting minutes were signed by the two ministers.

The Chinese delegation led by Minister for Public Security Mr Wang Xiaohong arrived in Myanmar on October 30.
