Myanmar, China discuss border stability, prevention of drug trafficking and online gambling

Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing accompanied by Consul General U Thaw Tar Aung met with the Director General of the Department of International Relations under the Ministry of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China Mr. Hu Xiaoming and the Deputy Head of the Department of Immigration (Yunnan Province) Mr. Jia Dong at the Zhong Wei Horizon Hotel in Kunming, Yunnan Province on September 21.

During the meeting, Mr. Hu Xiaoming and Mr. Jia Dong pointed out the promotion of existing friendly relations, collaboration in conducting Covid-19 control and preventive measures in Shweli-Muse border area, tasks implementations in ensuring peace and stability in border areas of the two countries, the crucial role of Yunnan Province in belt and road initiative and information transparency between two countries in undertaking immigration tasks.

Afterwards, the Union Minister highlighted the bilateral cooperation in all aspects, re-operating of the border checkpoints of the two countries in the post Covid-19 period, allowing Myanmar and Chinese nationals who hold passports to entry/exit through Muse-Shweli gate of Myanmar-China border, cooperation in preventing illegal entry/exit through border areas, drug trafficking and online gambling prevention and closer collaboration with the Yunnan Province in conducting immigration tasks in border areas.
