According to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Myanmar and Russia have signed an agreement to abolish visa requirements for each other’s citizens.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Myanmar Foreign Minister U Than Swe met on October 28 on the sidelines of an international meeting, during which they signed the agreement on mutual visa exemption between the two countries.
During the meeting, both ministers discussed prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation in priority areas. They also explored opportunities for collaboration in politics, trade, economy, investment, and humanitarian affairs.
In addition, both sides agreed to strengthen coordination on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Along with the visa exemption agreement, the two ministers also signed the “Plan of Inter-Ministerial Consultations for 2025–2027.”
