The Mandalay Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MRCCI), in collaboration with local business leaders, will organize a traditional walking Thingyan festival accompanied by satuditha (charity food donation) programs, according to sources.

In preparation for the 2026 Thingyan celebrations in Mandalay, MRCCI and participating entrepreneurs held a coordination meeting on April 9 at the MRCCI office to discuss arrangements for the event.

At the MRCCI pavilion, major sponsors—including 5BB—will take part in the celebrations. Shwe Taung Shan Tea will offer laphet (pickled tea) as part of the satuditha program, while Shwe Yi Win Jewelry will organize lucky draw programs featuring gold prizes. Other sponsoring companies are also expected to distribute their products as gifts to attendees.

“This year’s Thingyan is being held not only to continue tradition but also to mark Mandalay’s recovery following the 2025 earthquake,” said MRCCI Chairman U Tin Latt. “Although it is organized under MRCCI, it is truly a festival for all members and business communities working together. We will celebrate both traditional and walking Thingyan.”

He added that the event will include water-splashing activities using hoses and boats, while highlighting Myanmar traditions such as Thanaka and Laphet. In addition to Laphet thoke (tea leaf salad) served as satuditha, snacks and refreshments will also be provided. Products from participating businesses, including eye drops and household items, will be distributed free of charge.

The MRCCI pavilion will be located on the eastern side of the Mandalay moat, between 22nd and 23rd Streets on 66th Street. Entertainment programs will feature traditional dance troupes from the National University of Culture, as well as performances by popular singer Ni Ni Khin Zaw and other artists.
