A member of Yangon Region Parliament has called for a review of the proposal demanding over Ks2.8 billion to repair MCC (Myanmar Convention Center) in Insein township although its annual income is just over Ks288 million.

MP Kyaw Zeya for Dagon Township Constituency No.2 made the remark over additional budget for 2019-2020 fiscal year of Yangon Region during the third-day session of Yangon region Parliament’s emergency meeting.

“MCC is said to be repaired. The budget of Ks2,864.329 million has been submitted for approval. According to the report of the Auditor General, its highest annual income is just Ks288 million. The amount does not even reach Ks300. The audit report also objected it. MCC is returning a 3 percent reward of its income. We should review these facts,” the MP said.

In parliament, he also questioned other cases in which excessively increased budgets are asked for. They include Ks230 million for garbage disposal, Ks1,459.620 million for making vinyl sheets on water supply campaigns at schools and Ks806.807 million for building repairs.
