Mortar shell explosion injures residents in Mon’s Kyaikto Township

An explosion caused by mortar shells in Tage Chaung Phyar village, Kyaikto Township, Mon State, left three local residents injured, according to local sources.

The incident occurred around 1:40 PM on December 21, when two mortar shells exploded near a house and on a village road in Tage Chaung Phyar.

As a result of the explosions, U San Kwe, 48, Naw Phu Pwint Kyaw, 15, and Maung Nay Lin Aung, 14, sustained injuries of varying degrees, a local resident reported.

The source added, "U San Kwe’s injuries were severe, and he has been transferred to Yangon General Hospital via Kyaikto Township Public Hospital. Naw Phu Pwint Kyaw and Maung Nay Lin Aung are currently receiving medical treatment at Kyaikto Township Public Hospital and Kin Mon Chaung Sub-Township Station Hospital, respectively."

Additionally, on the night of December 19, at approximately 8:00 PM, a mortar shell struck the home of Ko Myo Hlaing Win in Win Kalot village, Kyaikto Township. 

The incident resulted in the death of Ko Myo Hlaing Win, 32, at the scene. His wife, Ma Kyu Kyu Win, 27, sustained injuries from shrapnel, according to reports from locals.
