The Mon State chief minister, Dr Aye Zan, was released from detention in the morning of 2nd February, according to U Ngwe Myint, secretary of Mon State NLD.

U Ngwe Myint said, " We waited till this morning. If they don't arrest till this morning, they won't arrest any more. How many from NLD had been arrested, and how many were released is not known in detail. We dare not communicate with one another. It looks like the wolf and the lamb, and so we have to think. It is true that the prime minister was released. It was this morning. It's still morning. President Ko Khin Saung was not arrested. Hluttaw representatives from Mon State were not arrested. Nothing has happened to Daw Nwe Nwe Aung. Everything is okay. There is no more reason to make arrests. They are already releasing some. What will happen cannot be said. We knew beforehand. We knew beforehand what they would do ".

A person very close to Dr Aye Zan said that about 4AM on 1st  Feb. the housing compound of the houses of ministers of the Mon State government  had already been surrounded. At 5 AM the prime minister and four other ministers were taken. At 10AM on 1st Feb. some ministers were sent back to their houses. Some responsible persons were placed there to prevent them from going anywhere and to ask for what they wanted. Dr Aye Zan was sent back to the housing compound this morning (2nd Feb.) ".

This person said further that some prime ministers from other States and Regions have been in a sort of house arrest. As Dr Aye Zan's native place is Kyaik Htoe it is not known what arrangements have been made for him.

Newly elected in 2020 representatives of Mon Unity Party  have not been arrested, and they are living in their homes, said Naing Tala, executive of Min Unity Party
