The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) announced on September 18 that it will not conduct offensive attacks in Mandalay and Taunggyi, nor engage in political or military cooperation with the National Unity Government (NUG) or expand battlefronts. This statement was shared via the Kokant News Network's Facebook page, which had briefly reported it in Chinese on September 5 before removing the post.
The MNDAA emphasized its unchanged political objective of achieving autonomy without threatening state sovereignty or seeking independence. The group also stated it will not engage with foreign entities against China or Myanmar, marking this as a political redlines.
Following China's appeal for mediation amid escalating tensions in Myanmar, the MNDAA expressed willingness to cooperate with China in resolving conflicts through dialogue. The statement comes in response to ongoing misinformation about the MNDAA's positions, which the group aims to clarify to prevent public misunderstanding.
Additionally, the MNDAA, along with the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and Arakan Army (AA), was designated as a terrorist group by the Anti-Terrorism Central Committee on September 2, 2024.
