Minister calls for inclusive cooperation in ensuring continued supply chain during COVID-19 crisis

All must cooperate in ensuring continued supply chain of commodities, medicines and medical equipment amid travel restrictions as the emergency period has come, said Deputy Minister for Commerce Aung Htoo. 

The deputy minister made the comment during a virtual meeting on ensuring commodity price stability and smooth commodity flow on September 14. 

Union Minister for Commerce Dr Than Myint also said the Union government, region and state governments and volunteers were taking response measures against the second wave impact of Covid-19. He stressed that the people must be able to overcome health problems as well as economic difficulties. 

He said based on experiences in Yangon Region, the virus could be spread quickly in a populated region and invited open discussion and suggestions for ensuring smooth commodity flow during the crisis. 

According to official data on September 4, the State provided Ks71.103 billion for the first time, Ks218.112 billion for the second time and Ks113.535 billion for the third time for low-income households; Ks92.612 billion for agricultural and livestock breeding businesses; Ks35.923 billion for elders, pregnant women, those at IDP camps and disabled people; Ks267.903 billion for health affairs, said Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Thaung Tun. 

Moreover, large sums of money were loaned to various kinds of businesses and SMEs.
