The voter list of Maungdaw Township constituency in Rakhine State for the 2020 general election has been announced for the second time, and there are 71 polling stations and 28,054 eligible voters, according to the township election sub-commission. 

When the basic voter list was announced for Maungdaw Township with 61 village-tracts for the first time, there were 26,228 eligible voters—14,009 males and 12,219 females. In the latest announcement, the number of voters reached 28,054 voters—15,107 males and 12,947 females—after amendment, addition and cancellation. 

The voter lists for the multi-party democracy general election to be held on November 8 were announced for the second and the last time at respective ward and village-tract election sub-commission offices on October 1. The lists will be announced for 14 days until October 14. 

For those who are not on the lists, those who want to amend their personal details and those who should not have been on the lists, they are to contact the offices and apply again with relevant application forms. 

In Maungdaw Township, some political parties and independent candidates are erecting their election campaigning billboards. 

“In our township, our ANP (Arakan National Party), other parties and independent candidates are setting up election campaign billboards. After that, people are found to have taken more interest in the election. They are going to the offices to check if their names are on the voter list,” said  ANP candidate Maung Win Thein.
