MANDALAY-------Some dwellers had defended themselves against the robbers who committed muggings in Mandalay Region after grouping for robberies and then they arrested the robbers by themselves, according to the reports.
Thefts of bicycles and motorbikes are rampant in many parts of Mandalay, while muggings are on the increase. A rising number of break-ins and robberies have also been reported.
“Three of Knife Attackers were arrested with slingshots and knives at Mandalay’s Kandawgyi Lake at night of March 8th. They testified to committing in robbery and they told us about their leader. That’s why the leader of knife attackers must take a responsibility for their pupils. We are going to air live if we will knife their leader. At that time, no one commented that the resident defenders should not do the violent acts. If the Facebook users will comment it, they must reply to them [robbers]. As they were so called gangsters, it is very shy to watch their pupils’ acts,” a person who participated in the arrest of knife attackers wrote on his Social Media page.
The gangsters have to use vehicles and motorbikes and they lied in wait for the people who rode the motorbikes in day and night aiming to commit the robberies. Moreover, the gangsters committed the robberies at their designated areas.
“Now, the residents are careful to go outside. Although we satisfied the resident defenders who were brave to defend against the robbers, it’s been worrying situation for public security,” said a company staff from Mandalay Region.
Although the relevant security force already arrested the knife attackers who committed the robberies, the dwellers demanded to carry out more arrests.
“We arrested the robbers at Yaydagontaung road and Theitpan road. We would like to urge the public to inform exactly us about the robbers. We also received the information that is said among knife attackers, some were ex-convicts,” a person who helped with the arrest of robbers wrote on his Facebook.
Mandalay has also been hit by dozens of recent muggings, with groups of men armed with batons and knives attacking people and stealing their motorbikes. In some cases, the victims were seriously injured. The muggings are most prevalent in Chanayethazan, Pyigyitagon and Chanmyathazi townships.
