Locals reported finding the body of a man whose wrists were tied with rope to a concrete fence post along the bank of the Thanlwin River, near the Shwe Taung ward’s riverfront road in Mawlamyine.

On the evening of August 8, residents discovered the body near the corner of Riverfront Road and Ye Baw Kone Road, tied by the wrists to a concrete fence post by the Thanlwin River, with the water lapping around him. A local resident said, “He looked to be around 35 years old. I don’t know where he came from. Rescue teams and locals gathered and brought the body ashore.”

The body was then transported by the Yamanya Emergency Rescue Team to the mortuary of Mawlamyine General Hospital.

Unclaimed bodies are frequently found in Mawlamyine. On the early morning of July 31, another male body was discovered in Rakhine Kone ward, on the Mawlamyine–Mudon road in front of Shwe Nat Taung Pagoda, with multiple stab wounds.
