Man arrested in Hinthada for stealing K60 million from vehicle in Kamaryut Township

A man accused of stealing K60 million from a vehicle parked on Insein Road in Yangon’s Kamaryut Township has been arrested in Hinthada Township, according to the Yangon Region Police Force.

At around 11:35 am. on August 5, a woman briefly parked her white Nissan March in front of MAB Bank on Insein Road in Hledan, Ward 1, Kamaryut Township. About six minutes later, she returned to the vehicle and discovered that K60 million, divided into two plastic bags and left inside the car, was missing. She subsequently filed a theft complaint at Kamaryut Police Station.

Following the complaint, Yangon Region police conducted an investigation to identify and arrest the suspect. On August 10, police arrested 38-year-old Zaw Lat, a resident of Ohn Kone Village, Hinthada Township, at his home.

Police also recovered K34 million from the stolen money, along with gold items allegedly purchased with the proceeds. Further legal action is being taken against Zaw Lat, according to the police.
