Major cities show support for the State Counsellor

Seven major cities, including Yangon, held shows the support for the State Counsellor that is now on her way to defend Myanmar against Gambia’s accusations at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) yesterday morning.

Activists including religious organizations gathered in front of the Oakkala Thiri Park, North Oakkalapa Township, Yangon Region, on Sunday to show their support for the State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

“We are extremely satisfied with the efforts made by the State Counsellor to defend against the case filed by Gambia. We, all of Myanmar’s citizens, can never accept the unfair case being filed by Gambia. Every citizen has a duty to support and welcome the public leader impressed by the globe,” said Thaung Tin, Chairman of Observance Committee.

Likewise, Taunggo District, Bago Region, Pathein and Hinthada Townships, Ayeyawady Region, Homalin Township, Sagaing Region, Mawlamyaing Township, Mon State as well as Meikhtila Township, Mandalay Region showed the events.

“The most satisfying thing is that ‘Amay Suu’ will solve the problem which threatens our country’s dignity and interests. We, Hinthada locals, showed that we stand with State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. Likewise, all civic and social organizations, various ethnics and all religions joined the event ,” said MP Aung Ko Ko Oo from No.2 Constituency in Hinthada Township, Ayeyawady Region.

The supporters also held sign board and vinyl posters that declare their standing with the State Counsellor.
