Magwe's Chief Minister Dr Aung Moe Nyo released, returned to government housing

The Chief Minister Dr Aung Moe Nyo and health minister Dr Khin Maung Aye, amongst others that were detained from the regional government, came back to the government housing estate on Natmauk road in the afternoon of 2nd Feb, according to members of the NLD's Magwe branch.

The Chief Minister of Magway Region returned from his place of detention at 1.30 pm of 2nd Feb. He said he did not have to sign any statements, but two of his handphones, an iPad and computer were confiscated.

"There wasn't any promise that had to be made or signing of any statement. When they came to arrest they took over the house, handcuffed and took me away. There wasn't any investigation, no signing of any statements. Two phones, iPad and a computer were confiscated," said Dr Aung Moe Nyo.

It was learnt that the chief minister and other ministers of Magway Region governing body were arrested in their housing compound at 4AM on 1st February.

After declaring a state of emergency early in the morning of 1st  February, the regional government Chief Minister Dr Aung Moe Nyo, education, health and social affairs minister Dr Khin Maung Aye, construction minister U Tin Nwe Oo, development minister U Zaw Min, and chief minister's PA, U Aung Win who were living in the compound of the housing estate were arrested and taken away. The region's parliament speaker U Tar was also arrested and taken away.

Those that had were inside the Magwe Region NLD party office since 1st Feb  were permitted to leave on 2nd  Feb. morning, and the office was locked

"After locking the door one key was given to us and one key was taken by them (soldiers). The door was not sealed. They said that if we wanted anything from inside the office we could contact them and take what we wanted. When we left there were about eleven of them in front of the office ", said U Than Naing who was permitted to leave the NLD office.
