Entrepreneurs in Myeik District of Taninthayi Region are reportedly planning to make cash donations collectively to enable the entire populace to be vaccinated against Covid-19.  

Myeik Corporation Public Co Ltd and Blue Water International Corporation Co Ltd donated Ks100 million to the State on January 25 to buy vaccines. 

At the donation ceremony, chairman Hla Than of Myeik Corporation Public Co Ltd urged the local businesspeople to make their contributions to vaccinate about 500,000 local residents in Myeik District. 

“One dose of vaccine is priced at about Ks5,000. We learn that it is worth about US$4.5. For the 500,000 people, we will need over US$2 million. We have a lot of business people here. They are fishing boat owners, shop owners and so on. They should take charge of vaccinating their staff. For the remaining people, we will make cash donations. US$2 million is not so much. Then, we will be safe and secure. This is my suggestion,” Hla Than said. 

Min Lwin Oo of Myeik District Covid-19 Committee said local entrepreneurs had donated over Ks260 million adding that they would start a plan to buy Covid-19 vaccines for the local people.
