Level-2 fire brakes out at garment factory in Watayar Industrial Zone, Shwepyitha Township

According to the Myanmar Fire Services Department (MFSD), a Level-2 fire broke out at a garment factory in Watayar Industrial Zone, Shwepyitha Township, at around 12:20 pm on February 18.

After receiving reports of the blaze at the Straightex Co., Ltd. garment factory located on Ngat Pyaw Taw Road in Watayar Industrial Zone, Yangon Region, four fire engines and two water bowsers were dispatched from the Shwepyitha Township Fire Station.

Fire engines designated for Level-1 fire were initially deployed at 12:25 pm to combat the fire, while additional fire engines designated for a Level-2 fire and units from headquarters were sent at about 1:03 pm. The fire was fully brought under control at around 1:38 pm.

The MFSD has not officially reported any casualties. However, unconfirmed reports circulating on social media claim that two bodies were found.
