Landmine hit passenger bus on Ygn-Mawlamyine highway, injuring eight

Landmine hit a passenger bus near Kyundaw village, Kyaikhto Township on Yangon-Mawlamyine highway around 9:40 pm on November 1, according to local sources.

The bus was from Aung Kyaw Moe bus line and there were about 40 passengers including driver and helper of the bus. The bus was hit by landmine while heading Mawlamyine from Yangon.

“Eight passengers (four men and four women) were injured. The bus was hit by landmine near PT Power fuel station,” said a local. The injured were sent to nearby hospitals.

Exchange of fire and landmine attacks are frequently occurred along Yangon-Mawlamyine highway. On October 23, a pilgrim bus was hit by landmine near Kamarsai village in Donwon village tract, Thaton Township injuring a man and a woman.
