KMTT’s new Sittwe Port to be launched soon

Arakan Traders and Entrepreneurs Association says new Sittwe Port which is one of the projects of Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project (KMTT) will soon be opened and the ships of 5,000 t0 6,000 tons will be able to dock at the new port.

Indian Consul General Bibekananda Bhattamishra and officials met with the Arakan Traders and Entrepreneurs Association on August 27th.

The Arakan Traders and Entrepreneurs Association also said that according to India-Myanmar Friendship Program, KMTT’s new Sittwe Port will soon be operated and 5,000 to 6,000 tons of ships can dock at the new port. The authorities offer the cooperation of entrepreneurs for jetty operation. The association will be joining hand with stakeholders aiming to create the job opportunities, to ensure commodities flow and to share the information.

At the invitation of Indian Consul General Bibekananda Bhattamishra, a dinner was held at the Royal Sittwe Resort in Rakhine State on August 27th. It was attended by Chairman of Arakan Traders and Entrepreneurs Association Tin Aung Oo, Chairman Shwe Maung of Rakhine Costal Vessels Association, Chairman Than Shwe of Arakan Rice Mill Association, Chairman Khin Maung Gyi from REA, Chairman Kyaw Min Tun from Rakhine Young Entrepreneurs Association, the vice-chairperson from Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, the chairman of Rakhine Highway Transport Association and then Indian Commercial Consular as well as KMTT officials.
