KBZ, AYA and Yoma banks resume operations as communication networks improve

Some of Myanmar private banks such as KBZ, AYA and Yoma announced on the evening of February 1 that they will reopen and provide regular banking services as of February 2 as communication networks have been restored. 

In its statement, KBZ Bank said in accordance with the letter of guidance from Myanmar Banks Association and the restoration of connectivity and systems, all KBZ branches will reopen from tomorrow (February 2). 

Branches will be operating during regular banking hours from 9.30 am to 3.00 pm, and all digital banking services: KBZPay, iBanking and mBanking will be fully operational, the statement said.  

Likewise, AYA Bank also announced that since the connectivity is back to normalcy, most of its ATM services will resume its operations and all branches will operate at normal banking hours on February 2 

Yoma Bank also announced it will resume its regular banking services nationwide on February 2. 

Most private banks announced on February 1 they would be closing temporarily due to disruptions in the telecom infrastructure. 

On the morning of February 1, Myanmar Banks Association instructed the private banks to close temporarily as they had been system unavailable and poor internet connection due to the current situation.  

It would announce the reopening date by following the guidance of the Central Bank of Myanmar after restoration of internet connection, the association said.
