MYEIK- A protest against death sentences of Myanmar migrant workers Win and Zaw was held on Strand Road in Kawthaung Township, Taninthari Region, yesterday, according to the sources.

Two Myanmar migrant workers were sentenced to death in Thailand last week for the murder of a British tourist couple on Koh Tao Island in September 2014.

The protesters held up vinyl cards with ploring the relationship between the two nations, good wishes for the people of Thailand and for a handover of the two Myanmar migrants and for true justice to be delivered.

Likewise, Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand Myo Myint Than met with two Myanmar migrant workers on September 5th and he told them that the Myanmar government was assisting their legal team’s efforts to submit a request for a royal pardon to the Thai King.

Win and Zaw were found guilty in December 2015 by Thailand’s Koh Samui Court of the murder of British backpacker David Miller and the rape and murder of Hannah Witheridge in 2014.
