Host Myanmar destroyed Bangladesh with a score of 5-0 in their opening match of Group C in 2020 Tokyo Olympic Woman qualifier at Thuwana Stadium in Yangon on November 8.

India and Nepal tied in other match of the same group.

Myanmar fielded young players along with senior players such as their captain Khin Malar Tun, Khin Moe Wai, Wai Wai Aung and Win Theingi Tun. Their opponent, Bangladesh, had shown improvement and applied pressure on the host team in the beginning.

Myanmar scored their first goal of the match in 36th minutes by Striker Win Theingi Tun from a corner. Myanmar team pressed forward after their first goal and the away team defence begun to stutter. Striker Win Theingi Tun bagged another goal by capitalizing on a mistake made by a Bangladeshi defender in the 43rd minute. Myanmar scored their third goal in 60th minutes by winger Khin Moe Wai.

Myanmar team wasted many goal scoring opportunities, prompting the coach to make some substitutions. Le Le Hlaing scored the fourth goal at the 83rd minute and substitute Striker Ye Ye Oo scored the final goal of the match at the 89th minute mark from a long range effort. The away team sat back on their heels and put on the defence in the second half.

Myanmar will play Nepal on November 11. The host team will be closer to qualifying for the Olympics if they beat Nepal.
