Head of Banmauk Township Fire Service Dept shot dead

The head of Banmauk Township Fire Service Department in Sagaing Region was shot dead while he was at the office, according to Myanmar Police Force.

Receiving information that the officer was shot dead in his office located in western Myoma Ward in Banmauk Township at about 4.15 on March 15, security forces rushed to the scene. According to the investigation, two PDF (people’s defence force) members arrived at the office on a motorbike, shot the officer and fled. U Khu Po Likat, aged 30, head of the township fire service department, was sent to Banmauk Township People’s Hospital. Later, he died in hospital of bullet wounds.

On the evening of March 15 also, a mine exploded in front of the monastery in Chatkyi Village, Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, wounding the 43-year-old monastery abbot. The monk was walking when the mine went off. He is now receiving treatment at Shwebo Township People’s Hospital.

Security forces are taking necessary measures to expose and arrest the culprits in both cases.
