A grocery owner died after being attacked by a thief with the use of a chopper in Chanmyathazi Township, Mandalay Region, on the morning of March 14, local sources say.

The murder case happened at Shwe Hla Yaung Grocery located 49th Street between 114th Street and 115th Street in Myayenanda Ward, Chanmyathazi Township

The 50-year-old woman who ran a grocery was reportedly living alone. She was killed when she arrived back home after going for a morning walk.  

“As far as I know, the women lived alone. When she arrived back home after walking outside in the morning, she confronted a thief. Then, the thief attacked her with a copper from the kitchen,” said a neighbourhood resident.  

The woman died of knife injuries at her home.
