Four slight earthquakes hit Myanmar in a single day

A total of four slight earthquakes hit Myanmar centering Kalay, Gangaw and Paungpyin in a single day, announced Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

“Kabaw Fault is existed nearby and slight earthquake hit at the place frequently. A strong quake jolted there in 2016 but the epicenter was deep and no serious damage was occurred. Four slight quakes occurred today,” said Dr Kyaw Moe Oo, Director General of the DMH.

A slight earthquake of magnitude 3.4 Richter Scale with its epicenter inside Myanmar (about 25 miles north of Gangaw), latitude 22.55°N, longitude 94.13°E, depth 40 kilometers about 35 miles east-southeast of Hakha seismological observatory was recorded around 8:45 pm on January 25 2019.

A slight earthquake of magnitude 4.4 Richter Scale with its epicenter inside Myanmar (about 17 miles southeast of Paungbyin), latitude 24.03°N, longitude 94.91°E, depth 85 kilometers about 40 miles southeast of Tamu seismological observatory was recorded at around 9:00 pm on  January 25 2019.

A slight earthquake of magnitude 4.2 Richter Scale with its epicenter inside Myanmar (about 5 miles south-southeast of Kalay), latitude 23.12°N, longitude 94.08°E, depth 40 kilometers, about 45 miles northeast of Hakha seismological observatory was recorded at 4:05 am on January 25 2019.

A slight earthquake of magnitude 3.7 Richter Scale with its epicenter inside Myanmar (about 22 miles southeast of Gangaw), latitude 21.99°N, longitude 94.41°E, depth 111 kilometers, about 68 miles southeast of Hakha seismological observatory was recorded at 9:30 am on  January25  2019.

“Locals didn’t feel the shakes much. Earthquakes frequently shook centering Hakha, Tiddim, Gangaw, Kalay, Kalewa, Mawleik and Tamu,” said a local from Kalay.
