Yangon-Three French tourists and a Myanmar national who returned from Thailand, tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases to 14, according to a statement by the Ministry of Health and Sports on the evening of 30 March.
The cases of three French tourists are linked to the confirmed patient (Case-8) who gave tour services. Four French tourists who had close contact with the confirmed patient had been quarantined at a hotel in Yangon since 28 March. Now they have been transferred to Waibargi Specialist Hospital after they are tested positive for COVID-19. All three confirmed patients has shown no symptom, according to the statement.
A 24-year-old Myanmar national (Case-14) from Kyaukme Township in Shan State (North), arrived back in Tachilek via Bangkok of Thailand on 25 March. He spent two nights in Tachilek. On the evening of 27 March, he flew to Mandalay via Tachilek. On the same day, he went to Kyaukme via Mandalay by his car.
On the evening of 28 March, he went to Kyaukme Township People’s Hospital as he started suffering cough and vomiting. He has been monitored at the hospital. According to the lab result, he tested positive for COVID-19. Currently, he is in normal condition.
On March 23, first two confirmed cases of COVID-19 were detected.
