Fighting displaces over 6,000 locals needing emergency aid in northern Shan State

There have been more than 6,000 people displaced by fighting in northern Shan State, and they are in need of food and essential utensils, Ta'ang Women's Organization reported on October 30.

Clashes between the Myanmar military and the Northern Alliance in northern Shan State have resulted in up to 6,406 refugees and a need for food assistance, according to the organization.

A total of 5,626 local people are sheltering in nine monasteries in Lashio Township.

Moreover, there are 400 displaced people in two monasteries in Kyaukme and 330 in three monasteries in Kutkai.

Therefore, the number of displaced people has reached 6,406 in northern Shan State.

Ta'ang Women's Organization has reported that food and medicine, beds, blankets, and mosquito nets, as well as warm clothing, women and children's utensils are currently needed for the refugees.
