Farmers in Kyaikmaraw Township are unable to harvest due to instability in the area

Farmers in Kyaikmaraw Township, Mon State are unable to harvest because of instability in the area, according to farmers who are fleeing from their native places due to clashes.

Although it is time for harvesting, the farmers are unable to harvest as clashes are frequently broke out in the area, according to a farmer from Chaung Hnakhwa village.

“Let alone harvesting of paddy, the farmers had to flee from their homes as skirmishes continued,” said a farmer.

The farmers are concerned of perishing of paddy if the harvest time is over.

Fierce fighting broke out in Chaung Hnakhwa, Kyaikmaraw Township, Mon State since November 10. As a result, thousands of locals are fleeing from the area, according to those helping the IDPs.

On November 27, clashes broke out around Meikaro village in Kyaikmaraw Township, according to locals.

There are paddy fields in Chaung Hnakhwa, Yaypu Kawsat, Pawlawkone, Thayet Kone, Phaya Kone, Taung Kalay, Pharthein, Kawdu, Kawtpanaw, Meikaro villages which are waiting for harvesting, according to farmers.
