Eight persons in Shan State imprisoned for 3 months for defying curfew

Eight people who defied the night-time curfew imposed in Shan State have been sentenced to three months in prison for the first time in two days after the imposition, according to Taunggyi Myoma Police Station. 

While authorities were on patrol on the night of April 21, two men and one woman were found in a car near the house of the chief minister in Taunggyi. On April 22, the township administrator filed a case against them and the township court sentenced them to three months in jail. 

Similarly, two women and three men were found outside at night in Ayethayar and sentenced to three months in prison. 

“The township administrator, as a plaintiff, filed lawsuits against them. The judge passed prison sentences promptly. Taunggyi Myoma Police Station handled one case involving three people while Ayethayar Police Station handled one case involving five people. 

Shan State imposed the night-time curfew on April 20.
