Ten education officials including professors and lecturers, student union members and 20 others have been charged under section 505 (a) of the penal code for participating in and inciting the CDM (civil disobedience movement), the State-owned Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV) announced at 8pm news hours on April 29.
The news broadcast says some education staff supporting the CRPH (Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw) are being charged under section 505 (a) for participating in the CDM themselves and encouraging civil servants including health staff to take part in the CDM with intent to disrupt State administrative mechanism.
The 10 education staff charged with CDM participation and incitement on April 29 include professor Dr Myat Htoo Kywel from the Nationality Youth Resource Development Degree College in Sagaing, associate professor Dr Nan Nwe from Yangon University of Distance Education, associate professor Kyi Htin from Yangon Technological University and lecturers.
Moreover, legal actions with similar charges are being taken against some student union members and 20 other persons for encouraging service personnel to participate in the CDM, supporting the illegal CRPH and spreading fake news and social punishment news on social media with their intent to disrupt State administrative mechanism and harm State stability, the MRTV announced.
