A traffic accident occurred on Yangon-Mandalay expressway on April 12 killing the driver, sources said.

The fire services department and charity organizations went to the scene at about 7:00 am on April 12.

"We went to the scene because we got the news in the morning. The car crashed into a barricade protecting the middle of the road. We have to put the driver out with difficulty. The two women in the vehicle were also injured," said an official from the Pyithayar Youth Social Assistance Association who arrived at the scene.

The driver died in the accident, and one of the two injured women was critically injured, according to Pyithayar Youth Social Assistance Association.

"The driver died. One of the two injured is in critical condition. The person who was not seriously injured said that all three of them fell asleep in the vehicle," said an official from Pyithayar Youth Social Assistance Association.

It is reported that the deceased and the two injured people have been sent to the respective hospital.
