Dawyawkhu entrance and exit gate in Demawso Township closed to contain COVID-19

In order to control the spread of COVID-19, villages in Demawso Township announced that they are to close Dawyawkhu gate since July 14.

“It said lockdown was imposed. We don’t know when will the gate open again. Shoppers have to go back homes. Some villagers and armed men were waiting at the gate,” said a man living at the Sipin ward.

As an emergency announcement, closure of gate was announced in advance for the locals wishing to come back to their homes and travellers. The announcement said that Dawyawkhu gate will be closed on July 14 and no one can enter the gate for the sake of health and security reasons.

Dawmawso hospital doesn’t accept positive patients but Lokaw hospital has accepted the positive patients from Demawso Township, it said.

In Loikaw hospital, there are 97 confirmed patients with 8 patients are on supplemental oxygen with 3 deaths according to the hospital’s page. In Paruso hospital, five confirmed patients were being treated while one was death.
