President U Min Aung Hlaing inspected ongoing regional development projects in Dawei, Tanintharyi Region, on October 12, focusing on the expansion of Dawei Airport.
During a briefing at the airport, officials detailed runway expansion efforts planned across fiscal years. U Min Aung Hlaing stressed that upgrading the airport is essential to handle projected increases in passenger and flight traffic driven by the Dawei Deep Sea Port project. He instructed engineers to prioritize runway safety, long-term durability, proper drainage systems to prevent waterlogging, and routine clearing of roadside verandas and surrounding brush.
Following his airfield inspection, he toured several urban development and public infrastructure sites across Dawei, including the Shwe Wae Thiri library, a planned new stadium grandstand, the regional cultural museum, the Strand Road upgrade, and the proposed site for an indoor sports complex with swimming and diving facilities.
