Covid-19 Treatment Center (Thuwunna) in Yangon Region will start receiving Covid-19-positive patients on July 8 (today), according to the ministry of health and sports.

Yoma Yeiktha Covid-19 Center is already accepting 1,000 people in quarantine and 776 patients. Meanwhile, MCC Covid-19 Center with capacity to treat 250 patients started operation on June 26. Yangon General Hospital and New General Hospital are a;sp accepting Covid-19 patients. Moreover, Inya Covid-19 Treatment Center (Mayangon) has opened and accepted 24 patients, according to the ministry.  

Inya Covid-19 Treatment Center can house about 500 patients, and arrangements have been made to provide enough supplemental oxygen.

The union minster for health and sports has urged groups responsible for giving medical and treatment services from various regions and states across Myanmar to draw work plans and guidelines to provide systematic care for patients depending on the severity of illness. He also called on regional authorities and volunteers to get prepared after seeking coordination.  

Under the leadership of the ministry and close supervision of regional authorities, military medical corps, staff from the public health and medical service departments at region, district and township levels and volunteers along with protective gear, medicines and medical equipment are taking measures such as daily monitoring of the disease and providing required treatment in regions with reports of cluster cases.

For those who have fever and cough, lose smell or have difficulty breathing and for those who were in close contact with the confirmed patients 14 days ago, they are urged to isolate themselves wearing face masks and contact their in-charge of their respective apartments and nearby health departments, according to the health and sports ministry.
