A total of 31 clashes occurred between Tatmadaw and KNU from May 1 to 31 in Duplaya District, which is under the control of the KNU, announced the Karen National Union (KNU) Central.
From May 1 to 31, 31 clashes took place between Tatmadaw and forces of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), Karen National Defense Organization (KNDO) in the area controlled by the 6th Brigade of Dupalaya District, Kawthoolei Administrative Area of the KNU, announced the KNU Central.
According to the statement, three locals were killed and 17 others were injured from May 1 to 31 due to armed conflicts in Dupalaya district.
In addition, due to armed conflicts in Dupalaya district, a Christian church and 22 houses were destroyed and crops planted by locals were also destroyed, according to a statement from the KNU Central.
According to the monthly list of Committee for Internally Displaced Karen People (CIDKP) of Duplaya district, the number of people displaced by the war increased to 22,523 in May due to armed conflicts in Duplaya district.
As it is the rainy season, the IDPs are facing difficulties such as inadequate accommodation, lack of sufficient food, medicines and treatments for the people fleeing the war, according to the KNU Central.
