The Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM) has announced plans to sell USD 35 million to fuel importers and CNY 10 million to general importers. According to the CBM, an average of USD 2.2 million per day is being sold through the Foreign Exchange Trading Platform (FX Trading Platform) to businesses involved in importing fuel and other goods, including those operating under the CMP (Cut, Make, and Pack) system.
In March 2025, foreign currency sales were conducted on multiple occasions. On March 3, the CBM sold USD 550,000, CNY 400,000, and over THB 600,000. The following day, March 4, USD 23 million and THB 150 million were sold. On March 5, the CBM announced the sale of THB 50 million to importers. Additional sales included over THB 8 million on March 6, over USD 100,000 on March 7, along with USD 300,000 and THB 19 million. On March 10, USD 33 million was allocated to fuel importers, along with THB 150 million. On March 11, over USD 33.5 million and THB 156.46 million were sold. The CBM also announced that on March 17, USD 33 million would be sold to fuel importers.
The CBM reaffirmed that an average of USD 2.2 million is sold daily to businesses importing fuel and other commodities via the FX Trading Platform. Further sales in March included USD 33 million on March 18, USD 300,000 and CNY 1.1 million on March 19, and CNY 7.77 million on March 20. On March 21, CNY over 160,000 was sold.
In February 2025, the CBM continued its foreign currency sales. On February 3, CNY 500,000 was sold, followed by over CNY 100,000 on February 4. On February 5, USD 23 million was allocated to fuel importers. Additionally, nearly USD 500,000 and CNY 500,000 were sold on the same day. On February 6, the CBM sold over USD 100,000 and over CNY 200,000. On February 7, another USD 23 million and CNY 600,000 were allocated. February 10 saw the sale of over USD 80,000, over CNY 200,000, and over THB 1 million. On February 11, USD 21 million was provided to fuel importers.
Further sales in February included over USD 21 million and THB 500,000 on February 11, and over CNY 500,000 and nearly THB 600,000 on February 13. On February 14, the CBM sold over USD 100,000, CNY 1 million, and over THB 900,000. On February 17, over CNY 900,000 and over THB 1.1 million were sold. February 18 saw the sale of over CNY 9.7 million and over THB 1 million, while February 19 included over THB 1.1 million. On February 20, the CBM sold over USD 50,000, CNY 600,000, and THB 900,000. On February 21, USD 20 million was sold, and on February 24, USD 23 million and THB 150 million were allocated to fuel importers.
Additional February sales included over CNY 500,000 and over THB 2 million on February 24, and over CNY 400,000 on February 25. On February 26, USD 23 million, nearly CNY 350,000, and over THB 151 million were sold. On February 28, THB 1 million was allocated.
