The man infected with COVID-19 in Mingalartaungnyunt Township, Yangon, was sent to Warbargi Hospital, and the eight-story building where he lived has been in lockdown, said Region MP Hla Htay for the township constituency No (1). 

“The patient was sent to Waibargi Hospital. He is being treated at ICU. He has been suffering from nose cancer for about two months. He received treatment in Australia. Before he was taken back to Yangon, he spent four days in Singapore. Only yesterday, he started having symptoms of fever and sore throat,” the MP said. 

Currently, the patient’s daughter, nephew and driver are in quarantine at Waibargi Hospital. Their street has also been disinfected. 

“Theirs is an eight-story building with eight floors. There are about 20 people. The whole building is now locked down. The surrounding places were disinfected. Volunteers are watching. No car is allowed to enter the street. The whole building will be watched for 14 days, said MP Hla Htay. 

The 69-year-old man living in Mingalartaungnyunt Township stayed in Australia for about a month for his nose cancer treatment. Before returning to Myanmar on March 14, he also spent four days in Singapore.  He started suffering from fever, coughing and sore throat on March 25. He then was kept at ICU of Yangon General Hospital and lab tests showed that the man tested positive.
