BPI medicines worth over K36 bn sold last fiscal year

K36.942 billion worth's of BPI medicines were sold in 2017-2018 fiscal year with most purchased from the Ministry of Health and Sports, according to Myanma Pharmaceutical Industries. 

The Ministry of Health and Sports purchased BPI medicines worth K26.817 billion, the Ministry of Defence K2.407 billion, the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement K0.180 billion and private hospitals and private sales representatives K7.538 billion. 

BPI anti-venoms are being distributed locally and to some regional countries. In the same fiscal year, anti-venoms worth K4.8 billion were sold. Anti-venoms produced from Pharmaceutical Factory (Insein) are also being sold to regional countries. 

Plans have been made to produce up to 100,000 ampoules of anti-venom from Pharmaceutical Factory (Insein) of Myanma Pharmaceutical Industries under the Ministry of Industry this year. 

Myanmar is cooperating with Brazil in doing research and production technology for manufacturing anti-venoms. Import of anti-venoms to Cambodia started in February this year, now the import has also started to Laos.
