Border trade value in two weeks of this FY reaches over $230m

Border trade value reached over US$230 million in two weeks of this fiscal year exceeding over US$70 million compared to the same period of last fiscal year, according to figures from the ministry of commerce.

From October 1 to 11 in the current 2019-2020 FY, border trade value amounted to US$231.283 million while the same period of last year saw US$158.721 million. This year therefore saw US$72.562 million more.

Of the border trade value in the two weeks, Muse border trade camp for trade between Myanmar and China alone generated over US$120 million in border trade, exceeding over US$20 million compared to same period of the previous FY.

Border trade value at Myawady border trade camp for trade between Myanmar and Thailand amounted to over US$38 million exceeding over US$14 million compared to last year.

Myanmar has 17 border trade camps such as Muse, Lwejel, Chinshwehaw, Kawthoung, Myeik, Nabule/Htikhee, Mawtaung, Mesai, Sittway, Maungdaw, Tamu, Reed and Htantalan.

Union Minister for Commerce Dr Than Myint stressed the need to improve both quality and quantity in efforts for boosting export. He also called for importing more capital goods for sustainable economic development.
