More bodies have been discovered in the rubble of the Sky Villa condominium, which collapsed due to a powerful earthquake, says the Myanmar Fire Services Department.
On May 3, at 10:15 a.m., the body of a man was recovered from Building C of the Sky Villa condo, and at 2:15 p.m., the body of a woman was also recovered from the same building, the department stated. The Myanmar Fire Services Department continues search and recovery operations at the Sky Villa condo site.
Similarly, on the evening of May 2, the bodies of three women were found in Building C, and earlier that morning, the bodies of a woman and a young girl were recovered from the elevator shaft area in the same building.
On May 1, the body of a man was discovered in Building D, and the body of a woman was found in Building C. A pair of gold earrings and a gold bracelet found with the female body were handed over to her husband, according to the department’s statement.
In addition, various personal belongings were found beneath the debris of the collapsed condo, the department said.
Also on May 1, a statue of Boe Taw Aung Min Gaung, important documents, and a fireproof safe were found in Room D5 of Building A, and were returned to the owner through the property handover team.
Likewise, on April 30, important documents, jewelry, cash, a watch, and three travel bags were found in Room M7 of Building C and were also handed over to the rightful owner, the department reported.
At present, cleanup operations and body recovery efforts at the collapsed Sky Villa condo are ongoing, carried out by the Myanmar Fire Services Department in cooperation with social assistance organizations.
