In a meeting with the MPs from Bago Region on September 5, Myanmar State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi said widespread rumour about the bank is untrue. The public don’t need to worry about it, said Lower House MP Cho Cho from Ottdwin Township Constituency on September 6.

Soe Min, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar said: "As a matter of fact, we no need to worry about it as the banks have trillion of money. There is a widespread rumour that some people are buying gold after the withdrawal of money from the banks. All banks have already maintained liquidity. There will be no problem even if the public withdraws their money. The central bank monitors the operations of all private banks on a daily basis, in order to enable them to strengthen and develop them. I would like to inform the public that they no need to worry about the banking industry as the central bank’s supervision on the private banks is its regular task. The heads of state have directed officials to make negotiations with all concerned and do the best.”
