Authorities have revoked the directive to suspend unplugged music performances in bars and restaurants in Yangon Region, according to township administration councils in the region.

"It's not like it was announced before. Although they are allowed to open, they cannot make a lot of noise," said an official from a township administration council in Yangon Region.

The township administration councils have instructed the respective ward administrators to suspend the unplugged music and performance programs at bars and restaurants opened in various townships in Yangon Region from July 5.

"Yesterday evening, the township administration council notified ward administrators to suspend unplugged concerts in bars and restaurants. We visited two restaurants yesterday and notified them. We asked the owners to sign to know about the instruction. Restaurants can open at regular hours. Only the nighttime entertainment programs are asked to stop," said an official from the township administration council in Yangon Region.

Similarly, an official from the South Okkalapa Township administration council said, "Yesterday, I called shop owners in South Okkalapa and clarified about it. The reason for the suspension is that unplugged music and performance programs have no license. The restaurant has a license. It can be opened normally. This is not just our township. Every township has instruction to suspend the unplugged music and performance programs."

Following the directive, popular bars and restaurants in Yangon have announced on social media that they will temporarily suspend their planned unplugged concerts.

However, after the revocation of the directive, famous bars in Yangon have announced that they will resume unplugged concerts.
