Over-speeding vehicle crashes into stream, claims lives

Tragedy struck on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway around 12:30 pm on March 28, as an over-speeding vehicle careened off the road and plunged into a stream. Two lives were lost in the accident, according to a social organization.

According to a spokesperson from a local social organization, the incident occurred when a Suzuki Wagon, traveling from Bilin to Thaton, attempted to overtake another vehicle between mileposts (142/1) and (142/2), resulting in the vehicle veering off the road and into the stream under Naungbo bridge.

"The two men in the vehicle lost their lives instantly. Their bodies were retrieved and taken to Theinseik stationed hospital," he said.

The deceased have been identified as U Chit Ko Ko, the driver from South Okkalapa Township, Yangon Region, and another unknow man.

Furthermore, it has been reported that the driver, U Chit Ko Ko, who perished in the accident, had been charged with reckless driving.
